In the coldest parts of the world great glaciers remain. Inside the glaciers lie the trapped remnants of times long past, frozen forever in the unmelting ice. Despite their immense size, glaciers do move, as well as expanding and contracting with the seasons. Their runoff feeds into streams, icy cold in the heat of summer. When the light hits them right, they turn almost translucent, with a purple-blue core that resembles a portal to another world. Attempting to cross a glacier is not impossible, but it does require significant preparation. At the very least, one will need picks, crampons, and warm clothing. Few journey into such inhospitable regions without good reason; however, the occasional thrill-seeker can sometimes be seen attempting to scale the sheer icy walls. Those who fail are entombed within the ice themselves.
