*A mural depicting two bird-headed women facing one another covers the wall of this chamber. Their faces bear elongated beaks, and each has an arm extended, holding the moon up in the night sky. A single line of hieroglyphics is engraved in the wall above the moon. Four limestone pedestals stand in front of the depiction of the moon, each holding a lapis-lazuli ibis in a seated position. Engravings of stars dot the black floor.* Of the four identical idols here, only one is true, and it sits on the third pedestal from the left. The idols are magically attached to their pedestals and can be removed only after the characters solve the room’s puzzle. **Trapped Pedestals.** Attempting to remove an idol from its pedestal triggers this trap. When triggered, necrotic energy bursts from the pedestals. Each creature within 5 feet of a pedestal must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 11 (2d10) necrotic energy on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The trap triggers each time a creature attempts to remove an idol from a pedestal. A spell or other effect that can sense the presence of magic, such as detect magic, reveals an aura of necromancy around the pedestals. **Mural.** The mural on the wall behind the pedestals depicts hieroglyphics that translate to “light shows us the true path.” A character native to Nuria Natal can translate the ancient hieroglyphics after spending 1 minute studying them. Otherwise, a successful DC 15 Intelligence (History) check translates the message after 1 minute of study. A successful DC 15 Intelligence (Religion) check recognizes the phrase as a common saying among Baez’Keph’s followers, referencing the belief among her followers that she created constellations and that she, not Horus, originally governed the sun’s journey through the sky. **Retrieving the Idol.** If a character casts the light spell on the mural’s moon or touches it with a torch or other source of fire, the moon bathes the room in dim moonlight, and the stars on the floor begin to glow. A successful DC 13 Wisdom (Perception) check notices several stars shine a bit brighter than the others. If the characters use a torch or other source of fire to trace a line between the brighter stars, the line begins to glow with the same light as the stars, forming a constellation of an ibis. Alternatively, if the characters cast the light spell on each of the brighter stars or touch those stars with a torch or other source of fire, the glowing lines form between the stars, creating the constellation. After the constellation appears, the three false idols crumble to dust, and the true idol can be removed from its pedestal without triggering the trap.
