A character can consult their tomes, visit a library, gather stories from the locals, or study architecture, travel scenery, ruins, or other landmarks while traveling. A successful Culture, History, or Investigation check means this research has resulted in valuable insights or rumours about the current or next region (player’s choice, at the Narrator’s discretion).
**Time:** This activity requires 1 week.
___
**Critical Failure.** The adventurer’s research was very intrusive, they somehow damaged key landmarks, and the locals are highly offended! Mobs from up to hundreds of miles away begin to pursue the party. Each character must make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or gain a level of strife.
**Failure.** No information is gained.
**Success.** The Narrator determines a helpful fact the character learns about the region selected, based on the relevant background knowledge and resources the character has. This could include being forewarned about challenging or dangerous terrain, lesser-known inhabitants of the region, monsters who live nearby, or imparting cultural information about the region the party is traveling through.
**Critical Success.** As a success, but the Narrator determines 2 helpful facts.
