Cross-country travel has provided some perspective. A character can practice mindfulness, calming their mind and centering their spirit. This could take the form of any calming activity, something they normally don't take the time for (cloud watching, bird observation, star gazing, etc.). The character makes an [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Insight|Insight]] check to determine the success of their efforts.
**Time:** The adventurer must spend the entire region undertaking this activity.

**Critical Failure.** The effort backfires, and the adventurer is caught up in their own thoughts. They gain 1 level of strife.
**Failure.** The adventurer finds no help for their strife.
**Success.** The adventurer removes 1 level of strife.
**Critical Success.** As a success, but the adventurer also gets advantage on their next check or saving throw to avoid gaining 1 level of strife. Note that any effects which attach 2 or more levels of strife are too extreme -- this benefit does not apply, but it also is not spent.
