For example, you could combine proficiency with a forgery kit and proficiency with cartographer’s tools to make a fake map. - **Quick Fake.** As part of a short rest, you can produce a forged document no more than one page in length. As part of a long rest, you can produce a document that is up to four pages long. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but this probably isn’t what they meant. Forgery kits facilitate the creation or duplication of documents, forms, and records. ### Components Various types of ink, a white wax brick, a variety pigments, sheets of gold and silver leaf, a metal case containing a diverse selection of parchments and papers, a quill pen with several removable heads, a loupe, various wax seal stamps bearing components of family crests, a letter opening knife, and a pot of glue. ### Special Uses **Sealer.** With 1 minute of work, you can open a non-magically sealed document without disturbing or destroying the wax seal, allowing you to reseal it or keep the seal for later use. **Counterfeit Document.** You can create the same number of pages as Quick Fake (above), but this forgery is nearly identical to the original, except for the changes you have made. To discern that the document is a fake, instead of Quick Fake's opposed check against yours, the reader must make an Investigation (INT) check versus a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier. **Other Counterfeits.** Alternatively, you can combine your proficiency bonus and your allies’ proficiency bonus of other trades to produce convincing fake documents including, but not limited to: - A forgery of an art piece with a fake certification of authenticity (Painter’s supplies) - A fake map with landmarks or destinations that have been altered or ‘misplaced’ (Cartographer’s tools) - A false bill of sale for products received, altering the costs or quantities (Brewer’s supplies)
