*Potion, uncommon (cost 200 gp)* **Crafting Components:** Ectoplasm from a poltergeist or other undead spirit Distilled from the psychic residue left behind by restless spirits, *affective ectoplasm* is thought by some researchers to mediate a non-corporeal entity’s ability to interact with the physical world. You can use an action to apply *affective ectoplasm* to a Small or Tiny object, causing it to animate as per the *[animate objects](https://a5e.tabletopbytheik.nl/compendium/spells/animate_objects)* spell. If you have multiple ectoplasm doses in the same container (maximum of 12), you can use them to animate larger objects (2 doses for Medium, 3 for Large, and 6 for Huge), or multiple objects within 5 feet of you while still using a single action. While concentrating, you control the animated objects as per the *animate objects* spell. After 1 minute, the ectoplasm degrades into useless sludge and the object reverts to normal. Each type of ectoplasm is associated with a different emotion and color. A creature that is attacked by an object animated by *affective ectoplasm*, makes a successful melee attack against it, or otherwise touches it must make a Wisdom saving throw with a DC of 13 + 1 for each dose of ectoplasm used to animate the object. If the creature fails the saving throw, it experiences an effect based on the type of ectoplasm used for up to 1 minute. The creature can make a saving throw at the end of each turn to end the effect. If successful, the creature is immune to that type of ectoplasm for 24 hours. If a creature is immune to any part of an effect of a particular ectoplasm (e.g., immune to fear and exposed to white ectoplasm), it does not experience any effects. Casting the spell *[calm emotions](https://a5e.tabletopbytheik.nl/compendium/spells/calm_emotions)* on *affective ectoplasm* causes it to instantly degrade. Likewise, casting it on a creature or object influenced by *affective ectoplasm* instantly ends any effects caused by the ectoplasm. Combining doses of different varieties of *affective ectoplasm* likewise causes all doses to degrade into useless sludge.
