![[azor'alq.png]] The Pinnacles of Azor’alq are a cluster of massive stone spires rising abruptly from the depths of the Dramidj Ocean, some 50 leagues (150 miles) off the Baklunish coast between Jannasib and Ataphad islands. Shrouded in thick, ever-present fog, these towering formations remain elusive, their exact number a matter of speculation. Sailors who claim to have glimpsed the Pinnacles from afar estimate their number at anywhere from 40 to 100. None are separated by more than two miles from their nearest neighbor, forming an irregular maze of sheer cliffs and jagged stone. Yet even those who spot them at a distance regard them with unease. Rumours of curses and ill omens have imbued the Pinnacles with an air of dread, and superstitious mariners refuse to speak of them while at sea, whispering their fears only in the safety of shorebound taverns. The spires are natural wonders at first glance. Towering over 1,000 feet above the ocean’s surface, with bases measuring nearly a quarter mile in diameter, the Pinnacles plunge to unfathomable depths below. Cascading waterfalls and dense vegetation cling precariously to their sides, creating an air of wild, unspoiled beauty. The spires have haunted Baklunish legend for millennia.
