Because it lies in the only gap in the north-south spine of mountains that divides the Flanaess from the rest of Oerik, Ket is a nexus of important trade routes, a nation of caravans and merchants where peoples and cultures from all parts of the Flanaess and beyond mix and mingle. The native folk of Ket resemble the mix of cultures that crowd the nation’s marketplaces. The people are of Baklunish stock interbred with Flan and Oeridian, resulting in pale yellow, golden-brown, or tan complexions and virtually any hair colour possible save the lightest yellows and reds. Ethnically speaking, Kettites are the least typical of the Baklunish folk. Ket is home to one adventuring guild known as *Brothers of the Road* based out of the trade district of Lopolla. With the Barrier Peaks to the south, the Yatils to the north and the vast Bramblewood Forest to the east, there is plenty of wilderness to tame and ancient ruins and cave systems to explore within and around Ket. Being a crossroads, it is also an easy matter to find work with the Mouqollod and other caravans heading both east and west from Ket. The city of Molvar, in the shadows of the Yatil Mountains, is also home to *The Obsidian Tower*, perhaps the most feared assassin’s guild west of the Free City of Greyhawk. During the reign of Iggwilv over Perrenland, the Ketites allied with the local dwarves to resist her fiendish influence and many of the descendants of those warriors today call Ket home. Many of them still seek to regain dwarfholds lost to the Witch Queen a generation ago. While those of high elven blood can be found in Ket, the majority of the olvenfolk in Ket are of the Wood Elf variety. This group have called the Bramblewood their home for millennia and while they do not formally recognize the authority of the Bey within the wood, they do have a treaty with the Kettites to ensure peace along the Irafa road.
