Rogue/Wizards have a mixture of a rogue’s lethal single-target damage and stealth capabilities, penchant for skulduggery, and a wizard’s scholarship and magical acumen. Because each class really only cares about one ability score, it’s not too difficult to make this combination work. Rogues can deal a tremendous amount of damage on their own and therefore it’s for a lot of builds it’s probably fine to focus more on spells that enhance their mobility, stealth, and defense. In particular, spells like shield, blur, invisibility, mirror image, and misty step will come in very handy and only require three levels of wizard to gain access to. Leaning further into rogue emphasizes stealth and single-target elimination, likely with the magic of whatever wizard levels were taken as a way of augmenting that skill set such as by using illusion spells for stealth and misdirection or as emergency options in case things go badly. Emphasizing wizard more heavily makes for a spellcaster who can rely on some covert skills to get them out of tight spots that magic alone wouldn’t help with. A more even mix of levels gives you a magical covert specialist with a broad toolkit. [[Synergy Feats for Multiclassers#Rogue w/ Wizard|Rogue - Wizard chains and ideas]]
