Pure martial skill and unalloyed mastery of stealth and precision. It’s not hard to see why this is one of those combinations that’s nearly impossible to get “wrong.” As the names of the feats in the chain below indicate, it’s common for such a figure to be associated with the underworld, breaking legs and torching shops to enforce the will of some criminal leader. But that is certainly not the only way that a fighter/rogue can be built. Focusing more on the fighter side means the character is primarily a warrior with a few sneaky tricks at their disposal, whereas focusing more on rogue means that the character is more at home in the shadows and has picked up some more straightforward combat training along the way. An even mix of the two is a true shadow warrior like a modern commando whose foes will likely never see them coming, but even if they do, will be in for a vicious battle. Key features come at level 2 for rogues with Cunning Action and level 5 for fighters with Extra Attack; regardless of the rest of the build, it’s often good to shoot for access to both of these features.
