The esper/warlock combination is an interesting one because one of the stereotypical patrons for warlock is an eldritch entity of some kind, and those are often associated with psionics. Though neither class is a slot-using spellcaster, they both fill similar roles to a more traditional primary spellcaster like a sorcerer or druid. There is a moderate amount of synergy between the classes; while they rely on separate resource pools, the combination can get away with focusing mostly on Intelligence. Most builds will probably want to operate from a distance in combat as neither the esper nor the warlock is particularly durable upclose, but exceptions based on the psychic warrior archetype and Pact of the Blade could certainly exist. A stronger focus of esper levels makes for a character who mostly favors their own innate capabilities whereas a stronger focus on warlock levels tends to indicate more reliance on the powers given by their patron; in this latter case, the character’s psionics may even be a gift from their patron, or perhaps the means by which they were contacted in the first place. In either case, because both classes are so versatile, the character will likely benefit from some careful pre-planning. [[Esper#Esper - Warlock|Esper - Warlock chains and ideas]]
