You would be hard-pressed to find more diametricallyopposed classes in the entirety of A5E than the artificer and druid. There is very little inherent synergy to be had, either on a mechanical or a flavor level, between these two classes. That oil-and-water contrast, however, is probably the very thing that makes this combination so intriguing for those who wish to try it. This is one combination where using the synergy feat chain will probably be especially helpful in creating some sort of unity between the disparate parts of the character. The one saving grace is that the druid’s wildshape feature does allow a lower focus on physical ability scores if used judiciously. A stronger focus on druid levels will make the character more powerful with their supernatural abilities and spellcasting, reserving their spell inventions as an unexpected backup. Focusing more on artificer levels or a more even spread will create more of a jack-of-all-trades type of character that can do a lot of things, but probably isn’t the best at anything.
