Note that some feats also increase ability scores, and that some feats have pre-requisites (especially synergy feats).* ![[blackguard.jpg|350]] ## Multiclassing and the Blackguard TBD ~~Here’s what you need to know if you choose warlock as one of your classes. ***Ability Score Minimum.*** As a multiclass character, you must have both a minimum Intelligence score of 13 or a minimum Wisdom score of 13 or a minimum Charisma score of 13 to take a level in this class, or to take a level in another class if you are already a warlock. ***Proficiencies Gained.*** If warlock isn’t your initial class, here are the proficiencies you gain when you take your first level as a warlock: --Light armor, simple weapons.~~ #### Blackguard Multiclassing Synergy Feats None yet! ### Proficiencies **[Armor](https://a5e.tools/rules/armor):** Light armor, medium armor, shields **[Weapons](https://a5e.tools/rules/weapons):** Simple Weapons, Martial Weapons **[Tools](https://a5e.tools/rules/tools):** none **Saving Throws:** Constitution, Charisma **Skills:** Choose two skills from [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Arcana|Arcana]], [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Athletics|Athletics]], [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Deception|Deception]], [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/History|History]], [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Intimidation|Intimidation]], and [[03-Mechanics/6-Ability Scores/Stealth|Stealth]] ### Equipment You begin the game with 200 gold which you can spend on your character’s starting weapons, armor, and adventuring gear. You can select your own gear or choose one of the following equipment packages. Also consult the Suggested Equipment section of your chosen background. [Link to equipment details](https://a5e.tabletopbytheik.nl/compendium/items) - **Dark Marauder's Set:** (Cost 189 gold) Handaxe (4), hauberk, [priest's pack](https://a5e.tabletopbytheik.nl/compendium/items/priests_pack) - **Black Knight's Set:** (Cost 200 gold) Longsword, hauberk, medium shield, [explorer's pack](https://a5e.tabletopbytheik.nl/compendium/items/explorers_pack) *_You won't need Supply, so exclude that and get back 5 sp per Supply for any included in the packs above._ ## Curses The true power of the blackguard comes in the form of wicked curses which prey upon, or create, weaknesses in their foes that can then be exploited. And when the time comes, the blackguard breaks the curse, tearing the dark power away from their foes. - [Blackguard Curses](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/aqemblg4lpgvakzge1yuj/OcOm_03-BlackguardCurses.pdf?rlkey=s3sw7fj3g7hqra15cwukquezh&st=l41761j1&dl=0) ## Combat Maneuvers At 2nd level, you gain the ability to use [[9 Maneuvers|Combat Maneuvers]]. You gain proficiency in two combat traditions from the following list: [[Arcane Knight]], [[Eldritch Blackguard]], [[Mist and Shade]], [[Razor's Edge]], and [[03-Mechanics/9-Maneuvers/Spirited Steed/Spirited Steed|Spirited Steed]]. You learn two maneuvers of your choice from traditions that you are proficient with. You gain an exertion pool equal to twice your proficiency bonus, regaining any spent exertion at the end of a short or a long rest. blahblahblah... # Knacks (Invocations & Unveiled Talents) ### Invocations The gifts of your patron are of a plentiful variety, and may grant you secret knowledge, magical tricks, or supernatural ability. At 2nd level you gain an invocation of your choice from the blackguard list, presented at the end of this section. You gain additional invocations as you gain levels, as shown on the Blackguard Class table. Additionally, when you learn a new invocation, you can choose one of the invocations you know and replace it with another invocation that you could learn at that level. - [Blackguard Invocations](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6g9yk8qizey8ovlyhpd4g/OcOm_03-BlackguardInvocations.pdf?rlkey=isshco5f1pyu51c1yjo1n2esn&st=3y7vyt1w&dl=0) ### Unveiled Talents At 3rd level and every three blackguard levels thereafter you gain a new ability bestowed on you by your patron to help you navigate the world, rather than the battlefield. Mix and match from any of these PDFs: - [Martial Knacks -- *for every class*](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3y3q436xp0br9hjnuk5en/MA-martialKnacks.pdf?rlkey=dddigvcb61sggxfyymtv4xpbg&st=vgozt129&dl=0) - [Blackguard Unveiled Talents](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u48k6njx6lrao4qbqlxf3/OcOm_03-BlackguardKnacks.pdf?rlkey=zcszmc3nznlir7ej0epwkapjb&st=1jgt4mx2&dl=0) # Blackguard Archetypes While many might expect the blackguard to have it's archetypes determined by what specific entity grants their powers, or the method they come by them, the following archetypes instead describe the method by which the blackguard uses the powers they have. Their particular style or chosen specializations, (work) much more like a fighter or wizard rather than a herald or warlock. >[!note] Skulk or Reaper? >Since this is a pre-release version of the class, in the main class entry there are references to this archetype as a Reaper, but the archetype itself has the title of Skulk. Will update once the document is finalized. | Archetype | Brief Description | Theme (In Brief) | Caster | Psionics | Companion/Pet/Mount/Familiar | [[Sources\|Source]] | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | ------ | -------- | ---------------------------- | -------------------- | | [Dark Rider](https://www.dropbox.com/home/D%26D/03-Classes/Blackguard?preview=backguard-DarkRider.pdf) | Cruel knights in heavy armor, on dark steeds. | Dark Knight | No | No | Yes, scales with character | Currently Unreleased | | [Marauder](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ypmabhrqosr8ex2y8d9f4/blackguard-Marauder.pdf?rlkey=bp1ajmfg9tcsowtaf8jyl66hk&st=cl9ofx7l&dl=0) | Vicious raiders who burst in, drenched in blood and filled with ready violence, ever ready to retreat should the forces arrayed before them be too great. | Pirates and brigands, raiders and thieves | No | No | No | Currently Unreleased | | [Reaper/Skulker](https://www.dropbox.com/home/D%26D/03-Classes/Blackguard?preview=blackguard-Skulker.pdf) | Masters of manipulating life force. | Assassins | No | No | No | Currently Unreleased | | [Warmonger](https://www.dropbox.com/home/D%26D/03-Classes/Blackguard?preview=blackguard-Warmonger.pdf) | Leaders of monsters and monstrous men. | Commander of dark forces | No | No | No | Currently Unreleased | ** Note that the A5E datasheet might show additional archetypes. Although this could be due to *jimisbehindism, _there are some archetypes which are intentionally left out of this list:_ - Anything that doesn't fit the theme of the campaign -- *firearms, more than minor clockwork technology, etc* - Anything from the Gate Pass Gazette (GPG) -- *the balance has a good chance to be wonky* # Synergy Feat Chains Currently n/a
